Recently, Health Minister Mr Ong Ye Kung shared about the launch of Age Well Neighbourhoods – a new initiative that will bring more support and services right into our communities.
As Mr Ong put it:
“It’s about creating Age Well Neighbourhoods – where seniors can live their golden years with dignity, in familiar surroundings, supported by the right services.”
This means more Home Personal Care (HPC) services will be available to help seniors who need daily assistance. From help with meals and bathing, to simple household support, HPC is set to grow in the years ahead. Permanent HPC posts are even being planned in some areas, so that care professionals can respond more quickly to the needs of families.
Supporting the Unsung Heroes: Home-Based Care Teams
While all of us benefit from these new neighbourhood-based services, it’s the nurses, therapists, and caregivers who will be carrying much of this responsibility day to day. They are often on the move, visiting multiple homes and neighbourhood centres, carrying medical tools, devices, and personal supplies with them.
